Social Security Insurance for Foreigners in Korea
1. National Pension
If he/she works in the Korean Company which is subject to the Korean National Pension System, foreign employer, foreign employee and foreigners who has equal statue of Korean or refugee is applicable to join the National Pension System.
Exception)
1) If National Pension Act is excluded by other Law and international Treaty (such as Diplomats, Dependents of Diplomatic and etc.), no need to join Korean NP System.
2) The following of VISA types is excluded.
- D-1( Culture & Art ), D-2(Student VISA, Study-abroad), D-3(Industrial Training), D-4(General Training), D-6(Religion), F-1(Visit Staying), F-3(Accompany), G-1(other).
2. National Health Insurance
If he/she works in the Korean Company which is subject to the Korean National Health insurance System, foreigner or Korean living abroad which hold the registration of foreigners and domicile in Korea are applicable to join the National Health Insurance System.
Exception)
1) In case foreign employer and employee are insured in the foreign health insurance or foreign law or regulations which are agreed with company, he/she can apply to exempt from Korean National Health Insurance.
2) Foreign worker by Local Law and Industrial trainer by Immigration Control Law can apply the exclusion of Long-term Care Insurance for Aged
3. Employment Insurance
The foreign worker is not applicable to the Employment Insurance.
4. Worker's Compensation & Employee Liabilities
All foreign worker and employee is applicable to join the WCEL system in Korea.
