Registration of Dependents of Foreigners for Health Insurance in Korea
Due to increase of foreigners who want to register dependents to use medical services in Korea related to the surge of COVID-19, documents and procedures needed in the process of the registration became more complex.
① A copy of foreigner ID of your spouse
② Family relationship certificate or certificate of marriage
② Relationship certificate stating parents and their son/daughter relationship that is notarized in the parents' country of nationality.
(e.g. In case they are Chinese, 戶口簿[family register] is needed, which is certified by Chinese ministry of foreign affairs.)
③ A translated document of ②, notarized in Korean by authority.
→ If the translated document is notarized in the country of nationality, it should be certified by the ministry of foreign affairs of the country of nationality.
2-1. If you are registering only one of your parents, you need evidence that you don't have spouse because he/she has priority over children.
Additional documents to prepare:
① Documents to prove that one of your parents has deceased or they got divorced at the country of nationality.
② A translated document of ①, notarized in Korean by authority.
→ If the translated document is notarized in the country of nationality, it should be certified by the ministry of foreign affairs of the country of nationality.
